This unique yoga mat has been handcrafted in an eco-friendly manner from water reed grass. This form of grass is found in abundance in the North East of India, where it is often referred to by its local name, Kauna. Water reed grass belongs to the family Cyperaceae, which is cultivated in the wetlands and marshes of the Imphal Valley. Versatile and durable, this grass lends itself beautifully to weaving. The reed is first cut near the base of the plant and dried in the sun. It is also smoked to be preserved and stored for a longer time. The mat is woven by interlacing the stalks with jute threads using basic tools and then transformed into mats by the women of the Meitei community of Manipur. The kauna grass is cooling, soft, supple, and spongy, making it easy to weave. This cushion features weaves that are extremely fine. They are reinforced with extra strips for strength. A kauna mat is long lasting and suitable for rough use as well

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a buckwheat pillow differ from a traditional pillow?

Unlike traditional pillows filled with synthetic materials or foam, buckwheat pillows are filled with natural buckwheat hulls, which provide firm yet moldable support, better airflow, and longer-lasting durability.

Is the buckwheat hull pillow suitable for people with neck pain or cervical issues?

Yes, buckwheat pillows are often recommended for individuals with neck pain or cervical issues due to their ability to conform to the head and neck, promoting proper spinal alignment.

Can I adjust the firmness of the pillow?

Absolutely! Our buckwheat hull pillow comes with a convenient zipper, allowing you to add or remove hulls to customize the pillow’s firmness to your preference.

How long does it take to get used to a buckwheat pillow?

It can take 5-7 days for your body to adjust to the unique feel of a buckwheat pillow. During this time, the pillow will mold to your body, offering enhanced comfort and support.

Does the pillow make noise when I move?

Buckwheat hulls can produce a soft rustling sound as they shift, but many people find it calming and soothing, helping them relax and fall asleep more easily.

Can the buckwheat hull pillow help with snoring?

Yes, by providing proper head and neck alignment, the buckwheat pillow may help open airways, potentially reducing snoring for some users.

Is this pillow suitable for all sleeping positions?

Yes, the pillow is highly adjustable and can be molded to suit back, side, and stomach sleepers, providing customized support no matter your sleeping position.

Is this pillow only for people with some medical condition?

No, the buckwheat hull pillow is not only for those with medical conditions. It's suitable for anyone looking to improve sleep quality, offering comfort and adjustability for all sleeping positions. Its breathability and pressure-relieving properties make it a great choice for restful sleep.

Why should I choose this pillow over regular cotton or foam pillow?

The buckwheat pillow offers better support, breathability, and is eco-friendly compared to cotton or foam, making it a healthier and more comfortable option.

Are these pillows costly?

Buckwheat pillows are generally on higher side than regular cotton or foam pillows due to their natural materials and handmade craftsmanship. However, Merkclub has made it cost-effective while providing a luxurious feel, ensuring that you get quality sleep without breaking the bank.
